Charlie completed his Diploma in Business in 2004, and then a Bachelor of Accountancy in 2008 with Massey University in Wellington.  During that time, he also completed a Diploma in Management with the New Zealand Institute of Management (NZIM).  Charlie started employment at Long & Cowan Chartered Accountants in Wellington in 2004.  From 2004 to 2011 Charlie gained his CA designation as well as experience in SME accounting, accounting systems, body corporates management and auditing.  He is also a registered mentor of the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants.

In 2011, Charlie and his family relocated to the sunny Bay of Plenty and soon after he joined the Private and Tax Team of Deloitte Rotorua Office (formally Hulton Patchell).  He worked closely with the Ngati Whakaue Inc and the Ngati Manawa Trust, as well as a number of Maori Incorporations and Ahu Whenua Trusts.  He also led a team of accountants at Deloitte with particular responsibilities in setting policies on accounting systems, external reporting and monthly management accounts.  Through this work, Charlie has gained specific industry knowledge in Maori Authorities, farming and forestry.

In February 2014, Charlie joined Manning Warner Browne Limited.  His key responsibilities are leading the accounting team and ensuring tailored professional services are delivered to clients.

In April 2017, Charlie was appointed as a director of the firm. He works with a group of clients including building constructions, transportation, farming, beekeeping, investment, tourism and hospitality.

Charlie’s broadly involved with the Chinese community in Bay of Plenty. Charlie is also a member of Justice of Peace of New Zealand.

Charlie says “I deal with every client’s business as if it were my own business.   I would like to take care of every possible hassle, such as debtors and creditors, payroll, accounting and tax etc, so they can focus on directing and growing their business”.

Charlie lives in Maungatapu with his wife Yana and two children Cassia and Dylan.  He also loves fishing and golf.
